If anyone has any TAC related questions for this United, please send me a PM and I will connect you with the member organizing the TAC that will be conducted there. He can also add you to the inspection schedule. Thank-you, Eric

I ran into a few odd things when I made my reservation. our reservations are not in the buildings listed even though I gave them our promo number. they also want payment for the first night up front and they do not accept a debit card for payment. also read their cancellation policy. it requires that you cancel seven or more days prior to arrival and if you do cancel you pay an administrative fee (10%) to cancel. this comes out of the prepayment. if you cancel inside of seven days you lose your entire deposit. you need lo ask about the rooms since some have bath tubs, some only have showers and there are other differences. there are no elevators and no guarantee of a particular room. check in time is after 5:oo pm .

This is an update for the 2014 United. Currently most plans are set. One that is not is the Sunday outing during the autocross, only because we’re waiting for local communities to list upcoming events for that weekend. Tentatively a trip to Charlevoix for lunch, shopping and site seeing. Here is a list of volunteers for the event. If anyone would like to download my father’s flyer or art work to help promote the event contact him at the e-mail below. This was also sent to all members to help promote the show. If anyone has suggestions for door prizes feel free to e-mail Art. Any questions on hotel accommodations please contact me. I will try to keep everyone informed as to the progress of the United.
John & Gwen Logan Sr (email@example.com) Art work and help at the event.
Art & Barbara Bonsignore (firstname.lastname@example.org) Door prizes and goodie bag items, help with registration
Tom & Pam Jeffers (email@example.com) Registration, help at event, Co hosts of event
Rick & Mary Lara (firstname.lastname@example.org Trophies, shirts, dash plaques
Dick & Julie Collie (email@example.com) Help with car tour, hospitality
Barry & Angie Schonberger (firstname.lastname@example.org Autocross chairman
Ranney & Sallie (email@example.com) Chairman of TACing vehicles
Tom & Kathy (firstname.lastname@example.org) TAC judge
Eric & Bonnie Gibeaut (email@example.com) Publicity, Chairman parts room
John & Laurie Logan (firstname.lastname@example.org) Hospitality, hotel, boat cruise, all things United, Co hosts
Currently we are without a concours chairman. Bob Sharkey said he would help, but would like to start stepping away from being a chairman. Eric Smyder said he cannot
attend and Carl Moon has an event in Chicago. Carl might try to come up for the show, but he will be 5 hours south of the event. On the registration form we have a spot
for people interested in being a judge, so before the event we should have a list of volunteers. If anybody has any questions or suggestions for the team we can be reached
at the above e-mails. And also I can be reached @ 1-231-459-6074 or Tom & Pam @ 1-608-385-9587.

Also please contact me if you are bringing parts for sale at our huge Rootes swap meet and I will make sure you have a table or two! See more info about the United at http://www.rootesamerica.org.

The United is less than a month away now-come join us in Michigan, it will be nice to be in cool weather again with lots of Sunbeams. All Rootes cars are welcome. There will be Sunbeam driving tours, an evening boat cruise, an all Rootes car show, tech sessions, swap meet, and lots of chances to make new friends and talk Sunbeam!

The outing on Sunday will be a caravan to Charlevoix a town located on both Lake Michigan and Round Lake for some shopping and lunch.

Wonderful place for a United! The cold front brought in rain and temps around 50 degrees which felt good if you are from the South but dampened the car show yesterday. There were 8 MK2s at the show in the park by the lake and there were many cars that came out of the woodwork that have never been to a United including many nice Alpines and even a Sunbeam station wagon. The pink Tiger drew a crowd all day. I will post some photos soon! Eric

Thanks Eric… I seem to recall a car show in the rain in Pigeon Forge and a near washout in St Michael’s 🙁 I hope this is not a trend.
Looking forward to seeing some pix and the write-ups.

Well pending the board’s approval, it will be in Dayton Ohio next year! Yes the AF museum is incredible-and we are planning on a group visit there during the United.

Yeah, uhh… we were just there in August at a large event with our "white car"
Absolutely will be looking forward to going back to Dayton for the United and to the AF Museum!

John & Laurie Logan, Pam & Tom Jeffers and many others put on a wonderful event. It was our first United (although I’ve been a TE/AE member since 1980), but won’t be our last! Here’s a link to some photos I uploaded to Fliker (wish I had taken more):
Toured Van Dam Custom Boats and Classic Instruments. Their websites:

Thanks, Bill. ..getting a little more flavor of the event!
What the heck was that powering that custom boat???
September 17, 2014 at 3:06 am #65834
The big one under construction is getting twin 427 Fords. Not sure what the smaller speedboat is powered by. Other than the engines (and I think the upholstery, if I recall correctly) all of the design and build is done by the 13 employees at Van Dam Custom Boats. On average, takes them 18 months per boat. I think most of us got the impression that these are boats that go for a couple of million dollars each!
