The Series V Alpine is supposed to have a two speed fan. My fan works, but has only had one speed for as long as I have owned it (27 years!). My thought is that there are 3 possible explanations for this:
1. My car has a 1 speed fan motor installed.
2. The fan motor is improperly wired and only 1 speed is working.
3. I have a 2 speed fan motor, but one speed is defective.
Is anyone familiar enough with the finer points of fan motors to offer guidance?
Thanks in advance!

The speed change is done by switching a big resistor in series with the motor. Check your motor to see if it has the resistor fitted, and that it is wired in correctly. There should be two wires running from the switch to the motor. One to the resistor, and one to the motor direct.

Chris,
Thanks for the info. I’ll check it out this weekend!

Also make sure that you have the two position switch for the fan blower switch and that both wires to the blower are connected to the back of the switch! Early cars used a single position switch for the single speed blower-maybe you have a single speed switch installed?? Good luck! Eric
