  My VERY original (dad bought it new and never did anything to it) 65 transmission is not blue. It’s very oily, but not blue. Other than that it’s hard to tell without a lift.

  I have had both a 1 and a 1A and both have been blue who knows, whats right maybe you should call Norm Miller to settle it!

  The two I’ve seen were unpainted. I painted them "cast iron" color when I rebuilt them.

  The transmission on my car was not painted when I recently rebuilt it. However, I did paint it with "cast iron" paint after the rebuild.
