I have shelves of leftover parts from an 8 year Tiger build. Parts are from Alpine and Tigers, some crusty, some very nice. NOS side glass, Alpine radiators, soft top frame, has tanks, steering wheel springs, 5 unfinished aluminum Tiger wheels, 260 motor, brake backing plates, center hard cover for soft top, headlamp buckets and rims, shift knobs, steering wheel centers, pedals, pedal springs, various keys and locks and more.

I’m looking for the quarter light bases, both right and left, in good condition. I’m also looking for the lock tumblers for the doors, with keys and the console lock tumbler with keys. I had keys cut to code and unfortunately tey did not work. I may also be interested in a steering wheel center if I can’t find mine. This car was in a garage since 1979 and has been in the body shop since March 2023. I’ve purchased quite an enormous amount of new parts for the car, but haven’t been able to locate these parts. some reproductions should be available in 2-3 months.

Maybe I can help you with the locks. First off, how do you know what your locks/keys should be? The Rootes Archive can tell you for sure. You say you had new keys made, but what did you use to determine what code? If you have locks and are certain what the original was, then a good locksmith can rekey the locks. to your code. Or they can cut you new keys to the locks you have. Try Britishauto@gmail.com

Hi David,

The Mark 1A I have, had not been used since 1979. I got the car in 2022 and the owner’s widow could not find the keys. I purchased keys cut to code from Triple-C Accessories, had issues with them but didn’t follow through until now. I purchased a new ignition switch with keys. Reason being I previously owned a Mark !! that after 68,000 miles you could start it with a screwdriver.
The door locks have code RM 870. The key I received is an RL- 870. After lubricating the barrel several times, I can get the key inserted, but it doesn’t turn when the assembly is inserted in the door handle. I believe the only difference between the RM and RL keys are the size of the head. The barrel may require additional soaking in PB Blaster to free it up.

The console lock has 943 stamped on it. Triple-C sold me an RL 943 and it is too large to insert into the barrel. I have a new boot lock barrel and keys. (It was cheaper to purchase a new set than to try and have a key made) The key is an FS 904 and will insert into the console lock barrel, so I think the console should be an FS 943. The triple-C website does list an FS 943. I probably ordered the wrong key. Because of the difficulty in inserting the keys into the tumbler, I was looking at the easy way out and purchasing replacement barrels with keys.

Does the Rootes Archive have a listing of key numbers for cars based upon the vin number? Do you know anything about the Heritage Certificate? What type of information it contains? I’m going to email Bob Allan with questions. I know the car had been severely damaged two owners ago and some parts were changed. When I received it, the rear axle had 3.73 gears, and I was informed that by the axle number, it had previously been in a car in Texas. I’m in Cincinnati, and the car was previously in the Cleveland area.

I can try to check on the key numbers with your VIN. You can send me a private message. You are right that the console and trunk use FS type keys. Triple C did have some actual NOS FS keys in the past, but it could also be an aftermarket key. The doors and ignition used RM keys I know, and suspect RL also. Same fluting but different “onion” head. Both Alpines and Tigers also sometimes used ST keys, a mirror image of the RM/RL. If the locks are out, I would strongly urge you to send them to the locksmith I mentioned. Great guy, very competent, and very reasonable. He could modify your locks to fit keys, or cut new keys. He hot tanked some of my locks and they work much better. Considering how often you use your keys and locks, it is a bargain. Plus I think t is cool to have the original stuff, if it works.
