are Singer cars related to Rootes cars ?

Rootes purchased Singer in 1955, so after that date, yes, Singer was part of the Rootes group. an interesting footnote… William (Billy) Rootes started his motoring career at Singer in 1909 at the age of 15

It could have been a Singer 9 or an SM roadster.

Yes, looking on the internet at pictures it looks like a Singer 9 that I saw. 1934 year rings a bell and pictures show high wire wheels which I also remember. That’s a neat looking car that I had never seen before or since. Thanks for the information.

Thanks for the pictures. Haven’t made it to the convention yet. Possibly this year. Hope to see a little of everything there.

I hope Rod makes it to the United. I owe him a distributor rotor. I’ll make sure it’s not a Chinese made part.

Rod,
I ‘ve made my reservations too. Jean is leaning towards having our 69GT with us. If she decides to retire we might roam the Northeast for awhile. See you there! -

I’m a Tiger owner but I love looking at everything. My first Rootes look was at a wooden floor shop at a Chrysler dealer in 1966. A guy my brother worked with had a new Alpine and he was having it tuned up. I was 8 years old.

The 30’s Singers are wonderful looking cars. So many models then. Cars at one time had style and character.
