My front main oil seal is leaking. Looking at youtube videos on late model 302 timing cover installs. They drive the seal in from the front. My Sunbeam manual shows the seal driven in from the back.
I installed mine from the back and it is leaking. Now if the seal is designed to be mounted from the front, I understand why it is leaking.
So, what is correct?…..my gut tells me I need to install a new seal from the front.
It is such a PITA to do, I want to make sure it is correct this time.

Mine is from the back side, the open lip goes toward the inside of the motor
Also I take the pan off so I can get the gasket straight, I know it sounds like extra work but I hate oil leaks
