Hi all:
I am replacing the head gasket on my 1725 engine. I have a new bi-metal gasket. I also have a new style asbestos gasket.
Any preference as to which one is better?
from sunny South Dakota,

Paul I think the black and shiney metal ones are the only way to go, once they heat cycle they a really stuck on. Have heard way to many tales of the copper and shiney sandwich type failing between the bores.

thanks Jim. I’ll replace using the composite type. The failure, incidentally, was on the Vizard head you did for me a few years back. The failure occured on cylinder # 4. I have no idea why it went out – the head bolts were torqued to specs and re-torqued after about a 1000 miles. I have to drain the oil yet, but should have the car back up and running by late this afternoon.
later,
Paul
