Has anyone put a 5 speed trany in a stock SV alpine. Finding an overdrive trany is next to impossible and I would like better cruiseability.

I used a toyota carolla 5speed T-50, 2T gear box they were in 74 to 78 modles. I used a kit from Dellows, from down under.It works great no cutting of trans. tunnel. Some people use the W-50 boxes but you have to move the shifter hole back 3 inches. 8) http://www.dellowconversions.com.au/

Works like a dream, wish I had made this conversion 30 + years ago!!! I average on trips about 33 mpg and the motor dose not have to work so hard! if you need more info email me or better yet call me I would be glad to help. 336-226-2139 in the evenings. Good Luck! 8) George Coleman
