In spite of all rumors, I remain “Still Not Dead Yet ” .
There was a catastrophic accident , a bout with Cancer, and an employee who stole everything that wasn’t bolted down , but
at 73 years old I am finally back to my project Tiger . [ I will attach a link to the TE/AE Forum site so that you can read all the back story ]
Here’s the current situation for you guys to mull over during the United and come up with a plan….
I was the “Guy in the Midwest ” who was replicating the LAT 41 Side Vents sooo many years ago . My friend Lucky the Welder has passed on, but I was able to buy the remaining inventory of Parts for the LAT vent project
from his estate for $250 .This includes 30 pair of the Fender cut out holes, a bunch of the bent Flat Stock that we had custom made for the Vanes, as well as the jigs to cut new pieces with a chop saw.
Most of the Pictures were lost with a computer crash 10 years ago, but I can post a couple if there is interest .

Someone can pick up all this material in Hastings Nebraska [ right off Interstate 80 ] , I just want the $250 back and you can go on to become Rich and Famous in the Tiger Community by saving this project !
It is heavy and I don’t want to ship it .
Bonus …I have a Guest House available for an overnight stop, whether you are interested in the Vents Kit or not.
I would love to see some of you in person !
I no longer have any of the Completed Vents , just this “Kit” .

        Jim,

I had a chance to meet Don Robertson and see his car. I took several pictures of the car (2008) but after reviewing them a few minutes ago I didn’t have a picture of the LAT 41 that is on his vehicle. I did install a set in my project which I am trying to get running this year. It looks to me like we both picked the same spots to install them.

A few years ago a member named Don Robertson was selling LAT 41 reproduction side vents. Here is a link to the last ad he listed here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1145&p=5011#p5011

There used to be a number of photos of them online, but I can now only find two. Here are installed and uninstalled pictures :

I bought a set of them for my V6 Alpine project and have finally gotten to the point where I am ready to install them. There was also a set of detailed placement photos online at one time. Fortunately, I printed copies of those out, as I cannot find them online now.

So, here is a photo of my SIV, showing about where the vents would go according to those old photos.

I think the current outline is about 1/2 inch off relative to left/right orientation, but should be spot on as far as the height. Still, there would seem to be two problems with installing these vents here, both related. First, this placement puts the vents directly inside of the inner fender. While the old installation photos show cut outs inside the engine compartment, by my measuring this wouldn’t leave much of any actual air flow though the vents. The second, and bigger, problem is with actual installation. The depth of the vents seems about the same as the depth of the area between the outer and inner panels. I have no idea how to get the vent mounting "ears" inside such a tight space, nor how there is any actual air flow when the vent backs are basically flush up against the inner fender.

I tried to reach Don via the email address listed on his last post here, but it bounced back. And, it doesn’t look like he has visited this forum in about 3 years, so I assume he is lost to the community. I know he sold at least a half dozen sets of so. Does anyone have any information to help me? Have any of the other 6 owners installed them yet?

          Thanks.

As of today there is just ONE SET left !
Act now or forever hold your heat !

Last year I managed to get my friend Lucky to reproduce a couple sets of the LAT 41 fender vents. They all sold and we were done as there was no more raw stock available.
At that time I assumed that we would never be able to do the project a second time because we had to get a worker out of retirement to bend the pieces for that job .
Well,….. it was a long wet spring , the farm economy sucks , Lucky needed some work , the fabricator needed some money , and the planets aligned perfectly…..
so there are now three more pairs of the Vents up for grabs !

Here’s the story for those of you just getting in on this saga…..
Back in the early ’90s I borrowed an un-installed original set of the LAT 41 Vents from a generous TEAE member in Ohio so that we could copy them for use on my ’65 Tiger [ B382000045]
At that time we made some extras and sold them off ….I saved one set for a model if we needed more of them sometime in the future.

Well, the future is now !

The fabricator for the raw metal used to work in a giant plant that makes parts for farm equipment or we would never be able to do this. For these vents he essentially has to make all of the bent stock first and then my friend Lucky the welder does the assembly , and it takes most of a day to do a pair . It involves a set of 6 custom made jigs and there isn’t a square corner anywhere.
The vent is 4X6 and just raw steel. They mount by cutting a hole in the fender and mounting them inside , from the back. They have a tab along the top and bottom edge to tack weld to ..There is no finishing outside edge. We just leaded mine . If you want them to actually function , you are getting into some cutting in the engine compartment……. One of the guys that bought a set last year vintage races his Tiger. He reported back that the vents were working so well he could see his hood push down at speed .
If you go here to http://www.flickr.com/photos/62791222@N … 432845269/ [ you might have to sign up to get there] , or try http://www.flickr.com and search for Doc Ivo , find the Photo Stream and then the "Tiger" set…..
there are a couple of pics of the pair of vents left over from the 90’s go round, and a shot of a set mounted in my Tiger.
[It turns out that if you leave them on a shelf in the garage for 15 years they rust a little……. ! ]

After this run I don’t expect to ever do this again, so if you want a pair now is the time to speak up.

A pair of these will run you $ 375 .00 plus the postage.
I am not making anything on this deal, I am just putting it together to help out a couple Tiger friends.
If you are interested in a pair at that price , please get back to me soon.

          rw,
They are copies of the LAT 41 fender vents. They mount just below the Tiger script on the front fender . If you will send me an email at ivostudios@alltel.net , I will send you a couple shots of these vents installed in the car.
          thanks for your interest

Hello from the center of the USA !

          The story…..
Back in the ’90s I borrowed an un-installed original set of the LAT 41 Vents from a generous TEAE menber in Ohio so that we could copy them for use on my ’65 Tiger [ B382000045]

Well, the future is now ! I am getting ready to have a new batch made and was wondering if anyone in the Club would be interested in a set ?
          *******************************************************
          Fabrication Report , Part Two;

There has been enough interest in this project to go ahead with production of these !
I have firm orders from four of you at this point, and I know there are others that are interested. I will hold open the ordering until December 1, 2007 and then go into production. The cost is $350 plus some shipping.
If you want in on this production run please let me know ! These are too pricey for me to "speculate" and make any extras.
Payment won’t be expected until I have product ready to ship and I would like to use my Paypal account for ease of operation. If this poses a problem for anyone , I am sure we can work something else out.
If you still need to see pictures , please email me at, ivostudios@alltel.net and I will email a couple of shots to you.
The fabrication shop owner has called a worker out of retirement to bend the pieces for this job . He essentially has to make all of the bent stock first and then do the assembly , and figures that each set will take most of a day, so this will be the last chance to get a pair from here !

          Joey,
TEAE has a member in its roster with a Tiger:
Don Robertson in Hastings, you might want to try to connect with him.
