        Hello Everyone,

        I’ve been hanging around, reading posts and finally have a question of my own. 🙂

        I’m a relatively new owner of a 1965 Tiger, of about 2 years, and am in the process of restoring B9471704 LRXFE with my father. We’re up to the seat backs and we have a few questions.

        We’ve reviewed the instructions that Joe Parlanti put together on the Tigers United site (http://www.tigersunited.com/techtips/ParlantiSeats/JoeParlantiSeatsPt1.asp) and they helped a lot for the seat bottoms. Unfortunately for us, his seat backs were the 1 piece style and ours are the older 2 piece style. Does anyone here have experience putting the older ones together? Or, are there instructions anywhere online? We paid close attention taking ours apart and have a bunch of pictures but it still does not seem that simple.

            i just did mine. there was only one frame for the back. do you have pictures of the two pieces? i can’t imagine it….

              I’m guessing he means the covers for the seat backs being the split type with the center not sewn to the sides like the later ones rather than an actual 2 piece back frame.

                You are correct Mike, the 2 pieces are attached at the very top of the vinyl but that is it.

                The frame itself is still 1 piece.

                  The seat back cushion should be split down the sides of the of the middle section but left together at the top. The center is then tucked into a pocket on the back of the center section of the cover. In the ones I did years ago there were a series of hooks on the 2 vertical rails of the seat back frame that attached to the center section of the cover to pull it against the frame. The bottom tucks under the bottom of the frams and is held by a metal strip. There’s a bit more to it than that but it’s been so long I don’t recall the whole process.
