So what is a Rootes United?

In 1977, as the first anniversary of the founding of Tigers East/Alpines East approached, members decided they would “Unite” to share their passion for all Rootes vehicles and to enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded individuals. That first year, 110 people showed up in Williamsburg, VA, from as far away as Florida and the northern New England states. Over the course of forty years, TE/AE members have “United” annually at locations from Daytona, FL to Toronto, Canada and from St Louis, MO to Rockport, ME.

Each gathering has some unique activities geared toward the location, but they all include several essential events: the Concours d’Elegance, autocross competition, rally/driving tour, and an awards banquet. Of course, no classic car gathering would be complete without memorabilia and shirts bearing the event logo. Another big attraction is the parts room where you can purchase or swap those hard to find items for your Rootes vehicle. The parts room is generally co-located with a hospitality suite where, throughout the weekend, attendees can enjoy each other’s company along with complimentary beverages and snacks.

TE/AE invites, and welcomes, attendance by anyone who owns a Rootes vehicle, or simply has a passion for the Rootes marque.

The Concours event, free for visitors, will be held Saturday morning, September 23 at Ridgeview Park in Waynesboro, VA.
