by Rick McCurdy in the December 1998 RootesReview

It is much easier to snake replacement washer hose through new grommets in the firewall, if a thin rod, such as welding rod, is run through the holes in the bulkhead first (from the dashboard side). Once the rod is in place, simply slide the hose over the rod and grab it when it comes out the other side. The rod keeps the hose from collapsing, and lines it up to pass through the holes.

This process is much easier done when the dash has been removed! The nice thing in a restoration is that this job is only done once, unlike dealing with carbs, radiators, sending units, convertible tops, exhaust rattles, shift linkages and the list goes on …. Have fun!
