If your clear hooter is not hooting and you’ve tried everything in the workshop manual, don’t give up. The manual says they cannot be dismantled. Don’t believe it! Simply grind or file the rivets flush to the top cover and using a 1 /8th inch punch, punch them out. Mounted under the top cover, between two coils, you’ll find a set of points. Using a screwdriver, hold the points apart and clean them with a small strip of emery paper. After cleaning, check across the terminals with an ohmmeter, should be about 1.5 to 2 ohms.

Reassemble using #8 screws and locking nuts. Adjust and test per workshop manual. I did this to three horns, and they now work like new.
