Road Trip gear......

Postby Duke » Wed Sep 29, 2010 9:53 am

I am no noobe to road trips but am looking for any missed items for the upcoming trip from Kansas to Maine.

Spares -
water pump
fuel pump
hoses
belt
points, rotor, cap (have Accel but if that fails)
lug nuts for spare tire (mag wheel lugs wont work)

Equipment -
paper towels
windex
tool kit
first aide kit
cell phone
GPS nav
radar detector (for SA and for amusement, plan on 74 MPH cruise)

Anything I have missed?

Stop in Akron, OH day one and then Rockport day two. I am figuring ~13 hours each day.

michael,
he will have no need for the rain-x. THERE WILL BE NO RAIN!!! gas will not be a problem since we have c stores ( several ) every 5 miles. they all stay open 24 hours.

killer,
i never leave home without your father in law's coat hanger thought generator. you do have one of the originals that he made in 1989????

duke,
take a connector in case your booster needs bypassed and also your te/ae roster. other than that it sounds like you've got it covered. see you in maine!

Great tips guys....thanks.

I will print and make a check list.

Ref the gas can.....when drining to TU in californina a couple years ago (did not make it and had to turn around) I had a two gallon platic can in the trunk. I ended up leaking due to the heat. So, this time I will be using my spare wheel 9 liter BMW metal fuel can. It looks like a donut and is desined to be placed inside the spare tire and bolted down with the tire. Needless to say, it wont fit in my 13" spare. I know for sure it will not leak, the Germans are good that way. For those of you with 15" wheels, I highly reccomend it.
