April 5th- Columbia, SC British car show and Sunbeam Weekend

Postby 65sunbeam » Tue Feb 11, 2014 1:25 pm

Come and join us at the 8th annual Carolina British Classics Car Show on Saturday April 5th, 2014. Registration for the show this year is $30 before March 5th and $35 after. There is no additional charge for passengers and early registration gets you a free event shirt. The show this year celebrates the Jaguar. Again we will be merging our event with the popular Tartan Day South Festival at the Columbia Speedway which is a historic vintage track from the early days of NASCAR racing. There will be lots of interesting and entertaining diversions throughout the day and a variety of merchandise and food vendors. A portion of the proceeds will benefit two charities this year: Wounded Warriors and Hidden Wounds.

The show's web page and registration info is at http://www.bccmc.com/CBC-VIII.html

Last year we had 36 Sunbeams at the show-come join us! This is the annual Carolinas regional event for TE/AE as well.
There is lots of parking space for car trailers at the show.

Hotel info and Sunbeam swap meet

Postby 65sunbeam » Mon Mar 03, 2014 8:51 am

Early registration ends in two days! We are also going to have a huge Sunbeam parts swap meet at the hotel so bring some parts to sell.

The Wingate has taken care of us again with discounted rates for our group. This is the same motel that we have used the last two years. It is convenient to the interstates, about a 6 mile drive to the car show etc. We will have the room again for parts / hospitality etc.

The details are:

The Wingate
108 Saluda Pointe Court
Lexington, SC 29072

1-803-957-5000
The rooms are $89.00 plus tax

When you call please use the magic word "SUNBEAM" to get these rates.

I would suggest getting your rooms pretty quickly. There will also be a Model T group staying at the motel while we are there and rooms could get in short supply.

Nearly 20 Sunbeams are registered for this event-we outnumber the MG's!
Room for lots more so see you there. After this long cold winter a little Southern sunshine will feel great for you Northern Sunbeam owners!

Eric
This was a great show last year. Sorry we can't make it this year. It sounds like there will be a good turnout. Hope the weather is good. They are predicting freezing rain with 6-12 inches of snow just north of us.

I hope anyone close enough to attend will make plans to attend. Great cars, lots of entertainment and food. Have a good time.

Thanks Pam-I thought all you Northerners would be racing down South to enjoy our warm weather (it was 88 today and temps this Saturday for the show will be 77!) It's not too late to come and join us this weekend! Eric

Last call for all Sunbeam and Rootes car owners in the SE!!

Well you can't let the weather report make you decide not to come to our show this Saturday! 85 today, 86 Friday, and 76 Saturday with lots of Carolina blue skies and sunshine. Only a 10% chance of scattered showers on Friday and Saturday but the yellow pine pollen is thick now so a little rain would be welcomed. We have several owners coming down from up North to warm up a little bit too!
Don't forget-this is the Carolina's Region annual event so come and join us for the first Sunbeam event of 2014. Eric

It was a great weekend for a Sunbeam gathering! We had 14 Sunbeams at the show and they were all Alpines. Several TE/AE members escaped the frozen North and joined us- Alan and Barb from Wisconsin, Dave from Michigan, and Bob and Jean from Ohio. They seemed to love the nice warm temperatures and the sunny skies after a long winter..... We did a drive to a local BBQ for dinner, had a parts swap, tech sessions and a cook out, and hung out in the hospitality room. Show day was sunny and 75 degrees, just perfect. The Scottish games were just next door and the sounds of bagpipes and drums went on all day long.
There was lots of talk about the upcoming United and we are all looking forward to that. Hope to see y'all at the show here next year! Eric
