Re: syncro vs non-syncro transmissions

Cool, thanks Mike. Yes, a shifter is still attached, that helps. I appreciate the reply.

syncro vs non-syncro transmissions

I've come into possession of a, I think, SIII trans. I'm trying to figure out, without opening it up, if it's a syncro or non-syncro trans. Are there any external details which will indicate which it is?

Re: Unbelievable "Luck"?

Seems that way, Eric. Another person approached me, at a weekly cruze-in, told me of a lady in Bowie w/garage of parts, too. Made contact, she's not getting rid of stuff, for little or nothing, this time, but have another contact for parts, maybe. I'm gonna check what she has, next week. Get those A...

Unbelievable "Luck"?

I had the Alpine out, last Friday, going up Rt1. A guy pulls up and asks if I'm interested in Alpine parts. Long story short, someone left a bunch of parts, cluttering up his garage and wanted to get rid of them. He wanted to give them to me, but after I saw them, he knew what he had, I gave him pra...

Re: Rear hub removal

Just an update. A local club member helped me out, by removing the hub and pressing on new bearings. Car has been riding great. Thanks a lot Phil.

Re: Help Restoring 1962 Alpine please

Good Luck, on your project, Colin. I agree w/Mark about SS, I've bought most of my parts from Sunbeam Specialties, I've noticed Classic Sunbeam in NY, carries a few things, Rick does not. Also, spend a bit more and get a better carpet, than Victoria British sells. Actually, IMO, avoid VB, I've not b...

Re: Rear hub removal

Thanks cuppy. I appreciate the reply. I used a 2 stud puller, didn't know the 4 stud puller was available. I wish I could tell you thread size.

Rear hub removal

I'm replacing the bearing on my rear axles. I'm having a lot of problems removing the hub. I've used a hub puller tool, similar to what's shown in the WSM. May have got a little movement. I've tried using a hydraulic press, w/heat, w/o heat. It may have moved a couple of mm,(axle end is no longer fl...

electric fan conversion?

Hi all, I'm in the process of rebuilding my engine, w/a SS NOS block. Since everything is out I'm thinking about doing an elec radiator fan conversion. I'm looking for recommendations and how too. If anyone has any experience w/doing this, I'd really appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks

locator stud

Hi All, I'm rebuilding my 1725 Alpine engine w/Sunbeam Specialties NOS short block. I need to transfer the flywheel locator stud on end of crank to new engine. I've banged on it a bit, but didn't seem to move. What is the prefered method of removing this stud? Heat? penetrating oil? bang on it more?...

Re: engine studs SV

Thanks for the replies, guys. Seems like the consensus is to not worry about replacing bolts w/studs.

engine studs SV

Hi Beamers, I'm doing an engine rebuild. I've bought the new short block, SS sells. In removing everything from my motor I've found that all the fasteners for exhaust/intake manifolds are all bolts. I know the horizontal cross fastener uses a bolt, but seems strange all of them are bolts, not studs....

Re: SV clutch hydrolics

Hi Janius, Don't know if you are still on, but I appreciate the reply. I haven't been on much either, the past couple of yrs. I ended up replacing the MC, not long ago, w/the tiger MC and adaptor from SS. Wish I'd seen this reply, before buying the tiger mc. It's working well, but the reservoir is k...
