Re: Stock Mk1a heater hose replacements

As you noted restrictions can be exasperated by the break down of the hose. Good point about making sure line is open as preventive maintenance. Over time the oil fumes along with hose breakdown can gel, coagulate and plug the openings. It is something that needs checked in old systems. TT

Re: Stock Mk1a heater hose replacements

Unless heater hose material technology has changed in recent years, it can not (should not) be used for PVC hose. The hose will swell, become mushy and eventually disconnect. This is more a yuck factor than a safety or pollution issue. Don't ask how I know this stuff. TT

Re: Chain Tensioner Problems

It all makes sense. Sometimes old is new. Use a spring type metal chain tensioner as used on the early Alpines. They work. Forget the wear/noise issues. No one drives their Alpines 50K anymore. TT

Re: Turn signal canceling mechanism

Jim, I did a presentation on turn signal steering column tab adjustment...called bending. There is both an art and science to bending this tab to prevent premature signal lever failure. The factory (LUCAS) did issue an illustration but it was not thorough or released with kits after the 60's. I have ...

Re: Protective tape

I did use real honest to goodness 3M chopper tape on my Tiger and ultra black and shiny Avanti. On both cars I applied permanently on quarter panels and wheel well lips. ...
