Steering Unit Lubricant

I need to add lubricant to my steering unit. Doug Jennings had rebuilt it along with the front suspension a few years ago and I have never added lubricant as the car has been in 'restoration limbo' for about a million years now. The Tiger manual specifies Shell Spirox 90 E.P. lubricant which is no l...

Re: Center Console mounting

Eric, Just wanted to post a quick update. It was operator error -- me. I inserted the console by lowering it into place. Now that might seem logical but ... when I inserted the back of the console against the package shelf and then lowered the front of the console in place it fit perfectly. I'm blam...

Re: Center Console mounting

Hi Eric, The console I have does have the ashtray on the front (not sure it was the original with the car as all parts I got with the stripped down car were in boxes). It seems correct. I will check the carpet or possible other interference as you suggest. Not sure that is the problem yet. I know th...

Center Console mounting

Are center console mounting brackets used to attach the console to the drive line tunnel? I can't seem to find any information in the Tiger Workshop Manual or referenced in forum threads. My Tiger was completely apart when I bought it. The console seems to be a little bit wider than the tunnel it mo...

Re: Dipstick tube and oil dipstick

Mark1A, Thanks for the heads up. I had not read the December issue yet. I looked up Ron's info in my 60-64 Ford Parts and Accessories books. C2OZ-6754-A - tube oil level indicator - without 40 or 60 Amp Alternator, includes bracket - approx. 15.83" developed length. It was used on the 221, 260,...

Dipstick tube and oil dipstick

Can someone please send a picture of the correct oil dipstick tube and dipstick for the MK1? Any available out there?

Fuel System

Does anyone have step-by-step instructions for installing the gas tanks, cross over pipes, hoses and fill neck?
I have started to mock up the pieces in the car and it seems to be a big challenge.
Help!

Thanks

Brake Line/Fuel Line Route

Does the front to back brake line and the fuel line actually run through the drive shaft tunnel and actually route above the passenger side exhaust pipe at the front of the exhaust pipe pass through? I can't seem to find any definitive pictures on the web concerning this issue. Pictures would be app...

Re: Dana 44 detroit locker truetrac

Thanks Jeff.
I didn't know the spacer in the original carrier floated. So it makes sense the 0.006 to 0.008 in. is the total end play.
Yes ,the elongated axles do touch inside the carrier.

Re: Dana 44 detroit locker truetrac

I have the axles back from the machinest. One and three eights inches total was added to the internal axle end in order to set the axle end float. QUESTION: In the Tiger manual, Section G, Rear Axle it calls for setting the correct end float of .006 to .008 in. I ASSUME this is .006 to .008 in. for ...

Re: Dana 44 detroit locker truetrac

I have my rear end back from the gear shop. It is now set up with the Dana 44 Detroit Locker TruTrack carrier and new 3.07:1 gears. After trying to set up axle shaft bearing end play, I found out that I need to have the axles modified with buttons on the (internal ends) to make up the space that was...

Information Help Please - Axle Spacer Width

This is somewhat of a continuation post of my Dana 44 Detroit Locker TruTrack posting. Does anyone know the exact thickness (width) of the axle shaft spacer in the OEM Salisbury (2.88:1) rear end? It is the spacer that is inside the differential case (internal in the carrier) against which the axle ...

Re: New around here.....

Welcome Lance, I am about 45 minutes or so out of Pittsburgh near Connellsville. I have been trying to get my 65 Tiger together since 2010 (when it was finally in new paint). Have had many many false starts (due to life's challenges in the way). My new target for getting it on the road is sometime n...

Dana 44 detroit locker truetrac

Has anyone installed a dana 44 detroit locker truetrac carrier in their rear end? I have a new one I picked up a few years ago thinking I might use it in the Tiger. I am mocking up the rear end at this point with '95 Mustang Cobra rear disc brakes from Dale's Restorations. I have new 30 spline axles...
