Re: Hood latch and pin photos needed

Gerhard, I have never had to adjust mine but it looks to me that the left to right adjustment is done at the striker on the hood. The bolt holes on the striker are big enough to give some left to right adjustment as well as front to back adjustment. Since your front to back adjustment is correct, yo...

Re: Sunbeam SOS/Invasion-Columbia, SC April 5+6

We are hoping to finally drive a Sunbeam to this event with it being a few weeks later than last year. But we need about a foot of snow to melt and some rain to wash the salt off the roads before I'll bring the Sunbeam out of the garage.

Re: concours

I have not read the guide lines for cars in stock class as I am not interested in competing. But I will share my thoughts. The cars when new had orange peal and the trim was not highly polished. The baseline for a stock class should be like new. Points should be deducted if you are not as good as ne...

Re: Tiger steering Column rubbercushion?

Yes, there is a rubber piece that goes around the column. It's about 1/8 inch thick.

Re: Replacement vinyl dash cover

The area between the wooden dash and the windshield is vacuum formed and foamed filled. At least that is how Sunbeam Specialties describes their Dash Pad part IP79. I don't think it is vinyl.

We were there last year and will be again this year. Too good of a time to miss. Bill finds some great roads to drive on.

Re: Leaky original electric fuel pump

Hi Lori,

My pump is a 65 also. It looks just like your picture in your first post and the 64 to 68 in the catalog from your last post. I am still going with your leak is because of a damaged or missing washer. I will be interested in what you find.

Re: Leaky original electric fuel pump

Do you have the washer between the fitting and the body? I would really suggest cleaning the flat surfaces on the fitting, the body and the washer. The seal is made on the flat surfaces, not the threads.

Re: Leaky original electric fuel pump

I looked at my pump and I would say it is very unlikely that the fitting is bottoming out. There is a washer between the fitting and the body. Maybe you just need a new washer and a good cleaning. The washer appears to be non metallic.

Re: coil resistor

Generally speaking, a resistor would be used to limit the current through the points to increase the life of the points. If a resistor is used, it is usually in series with the wire going to the coil. The only wiring diagram for the Alpine that I have does not show a resistor so I would not put one ...
