Re: Transmission size

I have swapped my car from HEH-E (close ratio) to HEH-B (wide ratio). Both used the correct-length tailhousing (same casting). As stated by others, the speedo gear opening is on the LH side. Dunno where the HEH-CF comes from, as my factory service manual says otherwise. One other tidbit; the correct...

Re: transmission color

The two I've seen were unpainted. I painted them "cast iron" color when I rebuilt them.

Re: Fuel Tank Cleaning

The phosphate in TSP forms phosphoric acid, which is good if you're cleaning out a fuel tank, to a point. I've heard of people failing to rinse TSP from their aluminum window screens (TSP is a common detergent used when cleaning siding), and finding the phosphoric acid had corroded them pretty badly...

Joel:

First of all, very nice work. How much improvement in turning radius did you find? What rack did you use, if you don't mind sharing?

John.

What was unsatisfying about the Midget Rack solution. Care to elaborate?

New Member from upstate SC USA

Hi all: I've had my Alpine V8 restoration project for around 20 years, but have only recently done much with it. Looking forward to getting lots of good advice on getting my car back on the road. My car is in pieces at the moment, but the mechanical systems are slowly nearing completion. Left to do ...

Re: crossmember

I am aware of the two sources for pre-fabricated crossmembers. Both are out of my budget. Niether seems willing to share details of their design, for fear of losing potential income, which is understandable. Are there any other sources for plans or kits for this?

Thanks in advance,
John.

Re: High HP Tiger guys..............

I wonder if quad shocks from a late model Mustang would work if the Koni's can't be found. They're a dime a dozen. Lot's of Mustang guys (me included) remove them for various reasons and have them laying around. No, mine aren't for sale.

John.

Does anyone have a picture of what these look like? My car came with the VIN plate already removed, so I have nothing to go on.

Thanks in advance,
John.

Re: Fuel Tank Cleaning

TSP - Trisodium Phosphate. Buy at local home improvement warehouse of your choice. Beware of newer "phosphate-free" versions, which are not as effective.
