Re: Out for a Saturday drive at the Arkansas Mile.

Mark , I had to use both the front air dam and the rear deck spoiler at the speed I was running . To keep air from getting under the car , the air dam was modified for 1 inch ground clearance at the bottom . The car was very stable at speed and was still accelerating at the mile marker . Dan the off...

Re: Out for a Saturday drive at the Arkansas Mile.

Video works fine on my computer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJrD4at3huI . Search sunbeam tiger , sunbeam tiger racing or type Arkansas Mile 6-3-17. Going to the event I was confident of running 170 + and with perfect conditions thought there was a chance to of 175. Saturday when I ran the faste...

Re: What a difference in aero in 50 years !

Bench racing is fun plus it doesn't cost anything. So here is my guess. With Tom's Gt2 body the Cd is certainly better than a stock Tiger ( Cd .45 ) but not as good as a C6 Z06 Corvette (Cd .34 ). Tom's car weighs about 250 lbs. less than my Tiger and with my motor would have a power/weight ratio ju...

Re: What a difference in aero in 50 years !

Sorry if there was some confusion , here are some examples : my Tiger 4.25 lbs./hp With only a 225/50 15 rear tire. C6 Z06 6.2 lbs./hp ZR1 Corvette 5.4 lbs./hp The Tiger and ZR1(stock) both do the 1/2 mile in 156-157 mph. C7 Z06 6.16 lbs/hp Several videos on YouTube of these running 145-146 mph Hell...

http://rs176.pbsrc.com/albums/w172/hguynes/P8040089.jpg?w=480&h=480&fit=clip The front spoiler ( air dam ) certainly helped in the standing mile races . I have had more trouble with the back of the car getting light. In the Oct 1/2 mile I had to put on the rear deck with the spoiler . Conce...

What a difference in aero in 50 years !

Good picture showing the difference in aerodynamic styling of two cars 50 years apart in age. The C6 Z06 has a Cd of .34 and the Tiger .45 . What stood to me was the windshield rake. The Tiger windshield looks like an airbrake ! Picture is a screen grab from a video at the 1/2 mile race last Oct. in...

Re: 1/2 mile drag race

The Tiger is stable up to 150mph , above that speed it starts to get light at the tail . I have a front air dam and another deck lid with a spoiler which I am going to try next race. My guess is with the air dam and spoiler the car will be more stable but slower (more drag) .

No turbo Buick cars . Probably 90% of the cars are less than 10 yrs. old.

Re: Look what's in my rear view mirror .

The Tiger won by about .5 mph . It was a cool day ( 60s) and the turbo and supercharged cars were running very well . The Hellcats were 6-7 mph faster than normal .

Re: 1/2 mile drag race

At the drag strip the Tiger can do a 1.5sec. 60 foot time with the drag radials (225/50 15 ) set at 16psi. Here's a video of the Tiger against the AMG and the Hellcat . The Tiger is at the start and the 10.0 mark . https://youtu.be/lBC--4WW5zQ

Re: Drag racing hypercars

It's the new cars that will not run the Tiger. Last year at the dead strip I pulled up next to a C6 Corvette Z06 . He motioned for me to go ahead and after I did a solo run , he also did a solo run. When we got back to the pits , I ask him why he would not race . Hs answer was : "I don't want t...
